Camera or Microphone Not Working on Video Chat
If the camera or microphone does not start on SpyMeLive, the cause is almost always a permission that is blocked or another app using the camera. Work through the steps below in order.
1. Allow access in the browser
When you press Start, the browser asks for permission. If you tapped Block by mistake, click the lock icon next to the address, set Camera and Microphone to Allow, and reload the page.
2. Close other apps that use the camera
Only one app can use the camera at a time. Close Zoom, Teams, Skype, FaceTime, Meet and any other tab that is using the camera, then try again.
3. iPhone and iPad
- Use Safari or Chrome, up to date.
- In Safari, tap the aA icon in the address bar, choose Website Settings and set Camera and Microphone to Allow.
- Check Settings, Safari (or Chrome), and make sure camera and microphone are not blocked.
- If you opened the link from Instagram, Facebook or another app, open it in Safari or Chrome instead: in-app browsers often block the camera.
4. Android
- Use Chrome, Firefox or Samsung Internet, up to date.
- Tap the lock icon in the address bar, then Permissions, and allow Camera and Microphone.
- In Settings, Apps, your browser, Permissions, make sure Camera and Microphone are allowed.
5. Windows and Mac
- Windows: Settings, Privacy and security, Camera and Microphone. Allow apps and desktop apps to use them.
- Mac: System Settings, Privacy and Security, Camera and Microphone. Turn on your browser.
- Check that the right camera and microphone are selected in the browser settings.
6. Other things to try
- Make sure the page address starts with https. Browsers block the camera on insecure pages.
- Restart the browser, or try another one.
- If you use a Bluetooth headset, switch to the device microphone or reconnect the headset.
- Unplug and plug in an external webcam.
